Pet Portrait Artist

My Story

I'm Jess! Singer, pet portrait artist, animal-lover, globe-trotter, environmentalist and lover of all living things.

My home is Hampshire, UK... but I have spent the most part of the last 7 years working onboard cruise ships as a singer. I have travelled to over 70 countries, surfed down sand dunes, jumped from planes, hiked through the jungle, swam in waterfalls, dived to deep depths of the ocean, bathed in crystal clear waters and marvelled at glaciers, and I am so very fortunate to have experience the beauty of our world.

These experiences have been unforgettable, but the most memorable and moving experiences for me have always been those shared with animals; diving with Great White Sharks, having a face to face encounter with an angry male elephant, seeing a rhino in the wild. (I was kicked by a giraffe too...that was a little too close!)

I have always loved drawing, but it has been these experiences, coupled with my growing concern for the future of many incredible animals that has naturally lead me to draw wildlife, to share this passion with my fellow humans and hopefully to educate a little along the way about how important our actions are to the future of these creatures and their environments.

Life as a pet portrait artist

Animals have played such an important role throughout history amongst families. Now more than ever people accept their pet as an equal member of their family and one that deserves as much love, attention and care as a human (I know many people who prefer their pet to their partner)!  This is what makes creating sketches of your pets so fulfilling for me and has naturally lead to working as a pet portrait artist.  Whether it be as a celebration of a pet that has passed away or as a gift for another, these always go down well and are such a joy to create.  There are a lot of us out there, but I can guarantee that if you are looking for someone who is passionate about animals and will do everything in their power to get the depiction of your pet right, then I am the pet portrait artists for you!  As an upbeat and energetic person, my work as a pet portrait artist has really challenged the scatty and frantic parts of my personality.  A pet portrait artist may not have been the most obvious choice for someone like me, but I  find it truly relaxing and somewhat therapeutic!
