This piece was inspired by a close encounter with a frustrated bull elephant on a safari trip to Africa. It was the first animal I have every drawn using charcoal and the process challenged me to explore different techniques to achieve all the wrinkles and bumps in his skin. I mark this elephant sketch as the beginning of my journey into drawing wildlife. I was totally engrossed in the journey of it’s creation and often lost track of time whilst creating it. A true celebration of this incredible creature.
